As stated in the Welcome post, we want to make sure this is a safe place for everybody. Therefore there are rules to follow.
No Godmodding
This means no taking over another person's character
(an exception to this would be for canons if the necessary canon characters are needed for the roleplay and the person assigned to that character is on hiatus or is inactive for a while. For example, a roleplay requiring Bunnymund, but Bunnymund's rper hasn't logged on in a few weeks. Once the person that signed up for that character logs on, Pm them that you used their character and link them to the thread in which you used them in)(Another exception is Man in the Moon, he can be played by anyone when necessary).
Try to refrain from the Mary Sue/Gary Stu siblings.
Not everyone is perfect and this should go for your character.
What makes a real character is the grit and scrapes of their persona. Everyone has flaws and so should your characters.
Another common theme to Mary/Gary character is having unbelievable amounts of power. No one should be able to have too much power without at least a drawback. For an example I will use my OC Emmy Andering, the guardian of imagination. She can imagine anything and materialize objects from that and she can transport to other locations through her imagination. BUT there is a source to her power--the golden key around her neck. It symbolizes unlocking the imagination. If it was to be lost or stolen, she would lose a huge fraction of her power.
If I or the mods see a Mary/Gary in the profiles, we will have the creator to edit the profile until the character is acceptable. If the creator fails to do so, we will have to close the profile and it will not be used in the roleplay.
Keep Cursing to a Minimum
Keep in mind that RotG/GoCh is targeted towards children, so they may wander upon this forum. As admin, I don't want this place to be the source of expanding the vocabulary of young ones.
Don't be a Boogeyman
Be kind to members current and new and treat them how you wish to be treated. If there is a problem with bullying or harassment of any form, please let the Admin/Mods know. In the words of North, "It is our duty to protect the children of the world", so don't hesitate to come to us for assistance.
No One Liners
Our roleplays will be in paragraph form. If you are a script-form roleplayer, try to transition to paragraph. It's easier than it seems, I do it all the time.
Here's what I mean:
Script
North: *turns to Jack* Hey, Jack! Tooth was just looking for you.
Jack: *sighs* Yeah, I've been avoiding her. She's been obsessing over my teeth more than usual...my mouth hurts.
North: *hearty laugh* I think she may like you, if you know what I mean.
Paragraph
North turns to Jack, "Hey Jack! Tooth was just looking for you."
Jack sighs, "Yeah, I've been avoiding her. She's been obsessing over my teeth more than usual...my mouth hurts."
North gave a hearty laugh, "I think she may like you, if you know what I mean."
Try to be grammatically correct
Keep in mind we're not too strict on grammar due to the fact that English may not be the dominant language of certain members. But we do encourage you to try your best. We don't want any txt speak nor l337 speak please!
No Double Posting
Please when posting, make sure you read through to make sure you have everything you want to post in there before submitting. And if there is something you do want to add in, there's the magic of the modify button. It can be found in the upper-right corner between the quote and delete buttons. This is to ensure that the threads aren't being spammed and looks cleaner.
Regarding Characters and Roleplaying
Okay, I didn't think I needed to put this up but I guess I did.
I know that the idea of roleplaying is exciting and you may want to jump in. But -please- Fill out a bio and wait for the Admin's approval First! I know this may seem like a drawback, but a bio is necessary for many reasons. One being for other roleplayers to reference who your character is and give them an idea of what your character is like. Second is to be able to make sure that there are no Mary/Gary's, you may be surprised that your character is actually indeed a Mary/Gary and you didn't even know it (I've had this experience before). If you don't follow this rule and you post a message in the roleplaying thread, I will have to edit your post to notify that your post has been deleted. I don't like doing this, I don't want to. So please just make it easier for all of us and follow this rule.
Once more, if you have any questions please don't be shy to ask the Admin and Mods. I hope you enjoy your stay.
